I'm just going to be straight with these one, listing out most important points why our country Cambodia is still an under-developed country.
- Corruption: This is probably one of the most important factors which hinder the development of the country since this has a strong impact on the government. What's more, I'm afraid corruption starts from the top, to be precise leaders of this country and everyone else. I must say, even me makes corruption, although not as strong as those elites. So, if Cambodia is ever to be developed, this must be reduced to a minimum rate immediately.
- Tradition & Superstition: Khmer people are mostly superstitious or primitive. Some ancient beliefs and traditions which are not suitable for nowadays era should be changed. Furthermore, almost all foreigners claim the same thing that Cambodian people are highly superstitious. Moreover, the Khmer holds many festivals and other religious rituals which might be the problem for the development of Cambodia.
- Human Resource: This is what makes a country going. If human resources are down, there can be no way that a country can develop, and this is what is happening in Cambodia right now. Because of corruption, students who graduate from universities are not qualified enough for employment. Most people say, ‘Quantity with no quality.’
- Individual: Imagine a country full of bad people with only one good man. How can this country develop? Suppose in a country with wise people unneeded and only corrupted people are needed. That’s why every single person must stand up together in order to make a change to this corrupted country. Only one person cannot make any different, only a bunch of people can push the power of change to activate. So, every Khmer people must not wait for others to act first. If you wait, other people will also wait and see.
Well, all in all, these are just statements. It cannot do anything but to help your mind to reconsider your activities nowadays whether you love your country or not. Remember, if you can’t help develop your country, don’t say you’re a real Khmer. I’m not, but I’ll try to become one. That’s my goal.
